Oh Dear!!

Yes - Oh Dear. My photography skills leave a lot to be desired....

However, despite the terrible photos of this layout, my design has been accepted for the Making Memories customer ideas, again - that's two....yay!!

All papers from Making Memories Wedding Collection, aren't they gorgeous. I even cut the title from the papers and embellished it with Kindy Glitz - there's lots of glitter on the journalling tags in the collection...

Have loads more paper in this collection (why do we have to buy every single paper in the collection, everytime - Basic Grey and Kaiser have just released their new ranges, and yep, you guessed, I bought them all on Monday - now just to use them !!!@!!!)

Don't you just love this hobby...

I will say one thing in my favour - I ain't buying as many shoes and handbags as I used to !!!!

Thanks for dropping by

Mother Mini Album

This little album is in memory of my Mum. Mum passed away 24 years ago, in 1985, she was only two years older than what I am now.....

Pages cut from Accent Essentials at 5.38"

This is Mum's engagement photo, Dad is just out of the picture (need to scrap the full picture me thinks - one day....)

And, of course, this is little me - what a beautiful picture.......

Mum as a platinum blonde. She was naturally dark haired like me, but of course, in the mid 60s platinum blonde was the way.....

The 1970s

Mum, the year before she died..... Miss you Mum xx

This little verse says it all (click to enlarge)......

Dedicated to Martha, my Mum
Thanks for dropping in....

Father Mini Book

To continue with the theme of Mini Books - here is one I made last year for Cricut Club - dedicated to My Father - George. Love you Dad xx

The pages are cut from Accent Essentials at 5.5 inches. With the smaller frames cut at 3", 2.5" and 2.25"

The little blue bird is cut from Home Accents at 2.75"

This is Dad at work in Singapore. He was in the Royal Air Force and served nearly three years there in the late 60s early 70s. I have vivid memories of half days at school and long hours in the pool. Very humid weather, no air conditioning and ceiling fans everywhere.
The little frame is cut from Accent Essentials at 1.5"

This is one of my all time favourite photo's of Dad. It was taken back in 1974 when we had a family holiday in the Isle of Man (a little island off the west coast of England).

Moving into the 80s, Dad looks so happy here. The brown scallop mat is at 4.5" from New Arrival, the blue mat with oval aperture at 3.75" from Beyond Birthdays and the word DAD at 3.5" from Beyond Birthdays.

Again the blue scallop mat at 4.5" from New Arrival and the aperture mat with the leaf cut at 2.75" from Stretch Your Imagination.

The decorative frame on this page is from Joys of the Season at 4.5" stretched to 6" wide on Design Studio.

Another favourite photo, my Graduation. Dad is wearing his favourite tie, so couldn't resist the wee scottie dog - one of those iron on patches you get from the haberdashery department - too cute.
The decorative leaves border cut at 1.25" from Accent Essentials.

The oval on this page cut at 2.5" stretched to 4.25" wide on Design Studio from Christmas Cheer cartridge.
The flourish from Joys of the Season at 1.25" (sorry, cannot seem to be able to put fractions for half, quarter and three quarters on blog!!!)

Two more recent photo's. Top one at my wedding here in Australia in 2007, and the bottom one at Glasgow Airport when I was returning to Aus from a holiday back home.

The back page says it all........

Love Letters

This was an off the page project I made for Cricut Club back in February.....

It's a little book - but no ordinary book....

A close up of the stitching. Yes, I stitched the pages into the spine.... That was a bit fiddly, but well worth the extra effort. It did originally have rings, but they really didn't suit the style I was trying to achieve....

It's a Book of Envelopes.....

And each envelope contains a Love Letter.

Now, as you've probably realised, I've been married twice.... Have I EVER received a Love Letter? Nope....

So - What to put in the envelopes?

I reproduced famous Love Letters from history.....

This first one is from Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn (before they were married) in the summer of 1528, WOW, the language is amazing (no, not swearing!!!!) the use of the English language is so eloquent, and definitely from a different era.

The second letter is from Robert Burns (the Scottish poet) (GO Scotland!!!) to a lady friend, known only as Dear Madam, he was a known womaniser. The letter is from 1785 and again the language is a pleasure to read, and it's written in straight forward English, not the usual style of Burns text, ie. "wee sleekit coorin' timrous beastie" .
Letter #3 is the first of two letters from Napoleon Bonaparte to Josephine. December of 1795, before their marriage, what a beautiful letter....

Letter four is again from Napoleon to Jospehine, in Spring 1797, just two years later, now married, the letter is quite different from the first. In letter #1 he writes to My Dearest Jospehine, in letter #2 he writes To Josephine..... Google them to read them in full, amazing.....

Letter number five is from the most famous literary couple in history - Elizabeth Barrett Browning to Robert Browning. Written in January 1846, before their marriage. What an amazing love story theirs is, made famous in the old film 'The Barretts of Wimpole Street" - love that movie.

And, finally, letter #6 is from Tsarina Alexandra to Tsar Nicholas II in December 1915. This letter is from a wife to her husband before he goes off to war (WWI). The letter is all the more poignant when you know what was to happen to them during the Russian Revolution.
They would be taken, along with their four daughters and young son by the revolutionaries (the people) and be assassinated. Thus ending royal rule in Russia - we all know what came next....
What amazing pieces of history, so glad I made this wee project....
On to the technical stuff - the envelopes were cut from Wild Card cartridge at 6" and the title from Blackletter cartridge, so perfect for this project. The papers used are K & Co 'Life's Journey', again perfect for this.

Last Cricut Club Creations

Here are the layouts I made for my last Cricut Club at Scrapbooks From The Heart........

All the cuts are from the Home Decor cartridge - love that cart......

"Adore" and flourish cut at 3"

Chandelier at 10" and Fleur de Lys at 3"

Chandelier at 5" and Flourish at 3"
Thus another chapter closes. I will miss working at the shop, but on the bright side, hoping to save myself a small fortune.
The only disadvantage of working in the BEST shop in Perth - I got to see all the goodies as they were delivered and couldn't resist buying most of them - if I live to be 100, and scrap a layout EVERY day I still wouldn't get through my stash......
The good news is - Cricut Club will continue without me - the beautiful Kaye is taking over the helm - her work is beautiful - can't wait to see her creations.....
I still have lots of Cricut stuff to post over the coming weeks that I created for the Club, so pop back soon
In other news - still waiting to hear from Sheralee to claim her Blog Candy

Making Memories

Fame at last!!!! Well nearly....

This layout has been displayed on the Making Memories website, under Customer Ideas.
Made using their Flower Patch range of papers and spiral notes, a few Prima flowers and bling.
Now, I know it's not the same as being published, but good enough for me.
So, if you pop along here:- www.makingmemories.com click on Ideas, then Ideas Gallery, then Customer Ideas, my layout is 4th row 1st layout - titled "Easter Basket" and vote, vote, vote...
Pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, I know, but I'm chuffed.
Thanks again for dropping in
